Why M7 has arrested Kalundi Sserumaga?

DearNetters,

Word trickling out of Kampala has it that a print journalist/radio broadcaster (One Serumaga) was last night arrested as soon as he stepped out of the studios of WBS TV station where they had conducted a live telecast debate on current saga in central uganda.

I watched the WBS programme and was impressed by Serumaga’s courage. He went a notch higher in livening debate on the impasse between Buganda and Central government. If he has been arrested, then this could be why:
1.he gave a genesis of the NRMO, and said the first rebel core committee was composed of about 8 members: 4 Baganda and 4 westerners, but by the time of coming out of the bush, all Baganda, apart from Lule were six feet under, giving example of one Seguya who was alledgedly poisoned! He posed the question why is it that one side came out alive and the other side were all finished? he argued that instead of Museveni saying he asisted Baganda, it was instead Buganda that assisted NRA war-effort, so the proverb of removing thorns from one’s leg could only mean sense if Buganda removed thorns from Museveni’s NRA feet, not the other way round.
2.then he said the fracas seen on the streets was a reflection of the leadership style, remarking that he could only explain it as Museveni was a badly-brought up person, for even the ordinary Mukopi were of two types: one who was polished in mannerisms and could be accepted in community of well-behaved, and the other of a badly behaved person who will be around to spoil things for people, which he thought Museveni belongs to.
3.Kalungi dropped the bombshell saying he saw it like Uganda was under colonial occupation, and UPDF and army of occupation, asking why the Bunyoro oil fields were guarded by Presidential Gurad soldiers and Saracen security Guards of Salim Saleh? He allerted Banyoro that while they were venting their anger over Bafuruki, the oil-sale agreement was being concluded with british frims with total disregard of the Banyoro who have not asked what would belong to them when mining proper begins.
4.He went full blast and listed occasions when the Uganda constitution was intentionally violated by the NRMo Government, and this one of preventing Kabaka to go wherever he deemed necessary was one such occasion of NRM violating the constitution.
5.When asked to summarise the good things of the week according to him, Serumaga said he was amused by the involvement of Kabakumba Matsiko, Matia Kasaija, Kale Kaihura, sarcastically portraying that it was leaders from Western Uganda tormenting Kabaka and Buganda…
Could it be some of these….that  has caused him some trouble. In current Uganda, one has to be real courgaeous to utter these issues in a live Television broadcast…and Serumaga did nit last evening.

    lets all pray for him!!!!!!!!!!!
its not a suprise that he was arrested.
just emagine the impact of the truth he said to those that had never seen the light??
its quit obvious that some issues which were thought to be secrets to the current ugandan “nobles” had been put to light. This had to raise tension amongest the oppressors as they could’nt stand the shame and the bitterness of the facts the gentleman had put to light.
It always feels good when one knows he is safe and that all the wrong deeds used to attain selfish goals have gone un noticed. That state of complancence had given the oppressors a lot of confort. So this man metioning their evils must have caught them by supprise and because they didnt think well/plan well as usual, they must have decieded to abduct him other than suing him if they thought what he was saying was wrong.

its a simble of weakness when one uses authority to achieve personal gains.
The same gun that is used to intimidate the public, not to metion mercilesily and brutally killing inocent protesters, can be used to discipline the oppressor if that becomes the order of the day..

Its so sad that once the pearl of africa is likely to become another budhist country. I cannot say who is right and who is wrong because I love my family and I perhaps may not have the same courage that Kalundi has.
One fact i know is that “what goes around comes around”

in case of doubt do not act. Just thinking about something does not mean it right. We should not say what we are not sure. kalundi got to know about all these when the Kabaka was going to Kayunga. One’s frustration should be blamed on themselves not the gov’t. Did all Ugandans riot. If you have your own problems please do not involve others. Well, I trust this gov’t , it will release him.

well I guess Akot Lucy may not really be Lucy but just a camflague but the issue is not involving others. Please note that not one was asked to join in the rightful demands but because they realised the need they joined. And hey am sure you know the saying today is me tomorrow is some one else therefore as you make comments do have some reservation. For God and my Country.

There is a photograph of one of Kalundi’s abductors at http://ugandaissues.blogspot.com/.

Akot’s trust in Government may be misplaced. You see all the senior policement involved, at one point or other during the saga, took family members aside and said they had nothing to do with it and they did not support police brutality but that it was imposed on them from above. Including IGP Kale Kayihura.

    God bless.

Kalundi’s arrest was not only becuase of what he said in WBS the night he was arrested as Obiny opines. Kalundi had been at the act of insulting the person of the president on each and every occasion he hosted his Spectrum program in Radio One – which was Monday – Friday every week. Those of us who used to enjoy healthy debate on national issues on Radio One began wondering what had become of the radio.

Kalundi in an effort to become ‘aganda’ a hero and possibly ‘murtyer’ adopted the Federo issue and used it to insult the president to the point of questioning his upbringing!! The great hero clearly shifted from discussing issues to personality and thought that everybody was cheering him. He now thought that all Ugandans are baganda and that his extremist views were appreciated by all.

In fact Kalundi turned Radio One into a forum to preach ‘ganda’ supremacy vis-a-vis other Ugandans. All this was tolorable to a point until he went for personality of others.

Bye the way do you know that most of the so called journalists in Uganda make their lucklustre careers to bloom after a confrotation with the state? kalundi is one such fellow!
