Kazini’s death needs to be investigated further

Namuwongo is no joke. General Kazini survived Kishangani and more only to end up being killed in Namuwongo over sex. Mr Mirima Henry should investigate more about what makes Namuwongo  attractive to military and no nonsense. In the 1960s, it was the late Minister Kakonge who had his Hqws shuttered by then Sgt Kayongo’s bullets. Yes, over a woman.

Under normal circumstance the state would want to establish beyond a doubt its innocence in Kazini’s murder. They would do the following

a) Order for an observed post mortem with General Kazini’s family fully represented by their own pathologists and lawyers.

But by the look of things Uganda may not have a chief Government pathologist who performs such sensitive post mortems. It seems they rely on the police surgeon.

b) set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry presided over by a distinguished high Court Judge. I would recommend the same for the late Mr Brian Bukenya (RIP) because there are certain things that need to be clarified under oath. A lot needs to be fuound out from the Iron Lady Lydia Draru. Could she have been acting on orders from somewhere else?

Where was the late’s driver and ADC? What about body guards and so on.

That said, the government has lost a scapegoat. I do not know what to make of the crocodile tears being shed by top military officials.

I keep asking: under what circumstances are suspicious deaths ever probed in Uganda?

It is a disgrace. It seems all big men do in Uganda is drink and womanize and spread HIV/AIDS. The late General moved from one bar to another drinking.

He was reckless and has paid with his life.  Given all the powerful forces and interest aligned up against him, one would have expectedd him to be extra careful. But wapi. He played into their hands and is dead.

On the face of it, it indeed looks like General Kazini was a victim of domestic violence but further investigations needs to be done into his death to rule out foul play. The way murders are investigated in Uganda leaves a lot to be desired. Once upon a time around 1999, we lost a relative basically because his wife was having a relationship with another man. Late Makumbi had spent almost 15 years in Sweden and he finally came to Uganda to settle down just like most of the Ugandans in diaspora are dreaming. His family got him a very beautiful wife to marry but the woman changed her behaviour when Mr. Makumbi’s pockets started drying up.

To cut the whole story short, Brother Makumbi was killed across the road near Kawempe Police station under very mysterious circumstances. Those who killed him were on bodabodas. They just shot him around 9pm and took off. It rained that night and there was no power. The police only came at the scene around 10.00 am in the morning the following day. His death was at the time concluded as just another spontnous murder but Makumbi’s family never gave up on him. They did further investigations till when it was established that his wife and the lover boy were behind the whole thing.

I don’t know how the state is gonna handle General Kazini’s murder but i beg the authorities to do more investigations into it otherthan just letting it to pass as another victim of women savages. Kazini’s family should also take it upon themselves to investigate his death. They should ask difficult questions and be willing to spend money in the process.

I hear that General Kazini has been a man of several women. By the way, is it true that the woman who killed him was once a prostitute? Is it also true that Kazini has been a regular customer to the prositutes in and around Kampala? These are things the media should clear up for us as we form our own opinions about General Kazini’s death?
For investigators, nothing should be taken for granted and every piece of information is important.

By the way, what were the conclusions into Noble Mayombo’s death? There was a presidential directive to be investigated but as usual we never had any updates.

    Sebo Semuwemba,
Whereas I have no problem with investigating the circumstances around Afande Kazini’s death, I tend to believe that NO Kazini associate and/or friend – former or current – is surprised by this kind of death and especially that some brave lady struck this all powerful UPDF officer!!

Those who know the levels of violence the Afande was acustomed to in ‘love affairs’ wouldn’t agree less that it was long over due. Only that our African Ladies rarely or never ‘reveal’ their ‘love affair’ experiences, there would be thousands if not millions of women to testify to this effect.

Kazine did this everywhere he went. I recall a certain day when we had gone to Zambia for a mission. Deep into Zambia, in a remote city – Kasama – no sooner had we settled in to master our hotel room numbers than the afande came in with a younge girl, possibly in her early 20s!!!! After ‘making love’ with this young girl, I suppose they had met for the first time a couple of minutes before they had sex, afande inflicted terrible pains to the private part of the little girl using his finger nail cutter. When the girl screamed, I and some other persons, believing that the afande had been attacked, pushed the door open – atucally he had not locked the door. The half way necked afande who looked ‘insane’ was speechless as we helped the girl to hospital!!! By chance, there were some negotiations and it never reached the Press, thanks to the remotiness of the place and the power of the Dollar.

Inquire from the ‘intelligence units’ and ministry of foreign affairs, there are so many such cases in which the afande involved himself while on mission!!!! The government used to pay thousands of dollars to the victims – of course the tax payer’s money…

There was another horrible experience of a girl, I think, in the first KIU in-take!!!!Kazini sliced her private part after sex!!!!

What was Kazini’s reaction in such situations? He would simply say, “after deeping your dick in a woman, what else is left … of her … !!!

I believe there are so many ladies cerebrating Kazini’s death – especially the way he was killed!!! Conglese women in partucular will remember the brutarity by which Kazini used to “F***” them in the Generator room at the other side of Kisangani AirPort, among other places!!!

I do not believe M7 could have contemplated killing Kazini especially in the way he was killed!!! Kazini was a careless drinker whom M7 boys could have killed with poison even from a local Marwa drinking point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not think Kazini was any Military threat to M7!!!

It is even more interesting that Kazini is now referred to as a Hero!!!!Goodness!!! Is Uganda short of heros or it is simply that we do not know the meaning of the term or that we do not know Kazini. Guys,

Kazini was one of the trainers of Kandoya. He brought this ‘creativity’ into the camp with him!!!!
Kazini is one of those people who burnt schools, killed people’s children and raped many of them in Luweero and, all these were attributed to OBOTE Troops. Kazini was a great propagandist.

Kazini, together with Rwegyema and their ‘boys’ were key actors in cutting off people’s lips in the North as a military strategy to I solate Konny from the ‘wanainci’ and deny Konny international support!!!

Kazini foresaw the killing of many youth during the Teso rebel fight!!!I recall the day he stood under a tree infront of the Usuku Church, from where he was counting how many had been brought to the slaughter house. He ordered that that they are all assembled in the play ground just opposite the Church. Most of these youth had been ‘arrested’ from Katakwi!!!!

Kazini is the one who foresaw the shooting down of Habyalimana plane; he is the one who facilitated Ikondere (RIP) to trave to Mombasa and receive the ’shipment’!!! Kazini was one the master planners of the war to overthrow Mubutu in which millions of people especially the Rwandan Hutu refugees

Kazini, Salim Sareh, Kagame, Ndugute, etc … were the people responsible for most of the dead bodies you guys saw floating over L, Victoria. They only succeeded to convince the world that it was Habyarimana people doing it!!!!

Guys, you Ugandans, especially those in FDC, put your leaders – Besigye and Muntu – to put to explain the sufferings Kazini, as a person under UPDF, has inflicted upon Ugandans!!!! I find it difficult to understand that Besigye, who wants to bring about ‘reform’ can keep Ugandans in the shadow of information yet he knows all the evils inside. Is it that Besigye and others have forgotten the Nakasongola ’sacrifices’ etc????

Yes, Kazini was a brave soldier but his determination to kill everybody around simply because he suspects there is one enemy is simply inhuman!!!

Anyway, what goes round comes round. Afande Kazini, go and meet the so many innocent souls you sacrificed in Luweero, Northern Uganda, Teso, etc … You killed millions with similar weapons – you have been killed almost the same way.

Ugandans, what we should be looking at is women activists calling for a commission of inquiry into Kazini’s sex-related violence!!That commission, if it builds confidence, it might get millions of witnesses; sharing their horrible experiences!!!

Will Salim, M7 and others also meet death in a similar way!!!An iron bar would be a good substitute for the Kabazi or Gafuni with which many people in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo met their death under these people’s supervision!!!

Hell must have got a new Comer in the name of Kazini.

About Bukenya Junior, let us consult. We might get to more interesting leads

He who has not sinned let him cast the first stone…

In reading comments from the Ugandans in the diaspora and the Ugandans in Uganda I find quite a distinction of opinion in how the two groups reacted to the brutal death of Major General Kazini. I was horrified to read many hostile comments from Ugandans out of Uganda compared to much more consoling and sympathetic mail from Ugandans in Uganda about the brutal demise of the General. Two thoughts come to mind as to why this is so, viz: Many of the Ugandans living out of Uganda have forgotten the African ettiquete that one never speaks ill of the deceased no matter how badly the deceased might have conducted their lives; and secondly those out of Uganda have much less appreciation of the work that the folks left back home are doing and therefore tend to be more critical. One could also conclude that the diaspora group consists of those who are anti-establishment and have less tolerance for mediocrity.

Whatever the reasons might be this writer submits that in death there is an ironic unity, where the roads of conscious life and the life beyond converge, and silence, if not golden, is at least a wagging tongue that speaks ill if the dead. There is a Kinyankore saying which goes: ogwatsya nigwikinamukyira oti nigukanyotsye!…translates: it is dumb to wish for fireburns when there is a firestorm heading your way.

For this writer, condolences go to the General’s family and friends and to anyone out there whose life he touched in a positive way. RIP

The death of major Kazini, the man who has gone through the hardest moments of life but to end up dieing in such a manner gives us living a big lesson on how we are to deal with life regardless of our status and possition in society. I had interupted sleep as i think and ask my self questions with no answers as to why Kazini had to die in such a way! Am indeed hurt and pray for the family, yes the family especially the children. God comfort you. He knows what would have happened in the future.

1/6 One can always trust you to eternally miss the point. Even on this occasion, you have not disappointed; and you have done your little thing: petty moralising.

2/6 Many of you have been at it here on the forum indulging in drunken speculation over what may have caused JB Kazini’s death. You are one of such drunken speculators Mr Kaluma if you look back at some of the messages you have churned out suggesting likely culprits.

3/6 The sole reason why I sought to remind forumists of that march 2008 incident is to cause the enterprising speculators (such as yourself, Mr Kaluma) to pause for a while and reflect on the other occasions when JB Kazini exposed himself to the same situation like the one on the fateful day. The day he died was not the first time he was carrying out a dawn raid on the home of a woman friend, neither was it the first time he assaulted innocent persons. The fact is that, each time we involve ourselves in violent altercations, we expose ourselves to being harmed. This is what we are dealing with in the case in question: serial violence, serial risks.

4/6 On each of those occasions, he did expose himself to the potential wrath of those individuals he assaulted. On the 2nd March 2008, he could very easily have been harmed by any of those individuals he assaulted: Dr Kagoda, Winnie or Byaruhanga, the b/boda cyclist. On the fatal day, there was no Byaruhanga: there was Draru a name that also means Byarufu.

5/6 Quite certainly, even on that occasion if any of those individuals that JB Kazini assaulted had acted in self-defense and injured the General, UAH sages such as Mr Kaluma, Mr Senyonjo, Mr Obargot, and the whole wonderful lot would have drifted off into the trade mark thoughtless, drunken and asinine conjecture like we are continuing to witness.

6/6 I wish I could sew buttons on the faces of each one of you!

Excuse me Sir Lance Corporal (Rtd) Otto Patrick by saying that if the assaulted victims by the fallen General had acted in self defence as to kill the General, we bonafide Ugandans would have twisted the scenario? You mean like Magara acted in self defence? Who would want to kill the General? Would it be Kagoda, you mean? Well, you sum it up well in your wish to sew buttons on these real Ugandans! Are you Sudanese, Rwandese/Somali? Well, I may never know but it is clear you’ve been or are with the same pack that is committing attrocities in Uganda and I like to think Lusoke Willy poked your eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kazini indubitably had his human weaknesses. On the whole though, he was a gentle man compared to the other thugs used to kill, maim, intimidate and coerce the opposition.
I am convinced his prosecution over the 60m loss he caused as the UPDF chief leaves more questions than answers because people who have been named in the junk helicopter scam and his colleagues named in the plunder of the Congolese resources for which we the young people, our children, our grand children and great grand children have to work tirelessly to pay. If we are to survive, we must put the last nail in the NRM coffin come 2011.

He never had problems with the Wanainchi and for that reason, I pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.

So much is known about Kazini by different people from all categories of people. Yes, those claims are not baseless. Kazini was such a person who interracted with all sorts of people and, certainly, he looked comfortable with every category of people he used to deal with. Among ordinary people, uneducated, gathered around a port of Marwa, Kazini would find a great home and associates. Among diplomats, Kazini was there. Among the richest group of guys in town, Kazini was the BEST. Among military senior officers, Kazini was famous much as he was among the lowest rank in the army. Kazini was everything for every category of people. He was also extremely emotional and sponteneous. Sometimes, senoir officers felt bad that Kazini was so close to junior officers. Therefore, that each category of people can talk about Kazini with such authority, personally, as a person who lived with “the afande”, I am not surprised.

But, of course, like in many cases, some stories about Kazini are half truth. Like the one on Annexing Rwanda. It is true that M7 and most of his military senior officers wanted to relate to us – Rwanda as a nation- like their ‘boys’. Remember, some of us had been escorts or aides for/to these senior officers. When we went to Rwanda, some of these officers wanted to maintain that ‘father-son relationship’. It is also true that these Ugandan officers wanted to dictate terms especially with regard to ‘Tenders’; they wanted to distribute everything to us. Certainly, they got away with this for a long time. For example, it was M7 and his officers that initially purchased military hardware for us, You may recall that by that time most of us in Rwanda did not know where these things were actually bought. Also, remember that there were UN imposed sanctions; it was prohibited to sell arms to any party to the Conflict in Rwanda. Uganda, through M7 up to well around 1998, remained the Embassodor of Rwanda. It was Ugandan diplomacy extended to Rwanda. Anyway, the story is long here!!!

In general, M7 wanted to do it all for us but we resisited. BUT again, neither him nor Kazini ever proposed to make Kagame an RDC. Let us remember that although we hit Uganda so hard in ‘Kisanganyi’, by that time and still now, we were not able to outpower the Ugandan army in a full scale WAR!!!!I say this with all confidence and knowledge of the two armies, up to now. It is true that the Rwandan army is strong but not true that Rwanda would outpower UPDF in a full scale war.

Rwanda would not take on Uganda in a full scale war!! Of course there are some other factors we would consider. For example, the levels of corruption in the Ugandan army which – surely higer than in Rwanda’s army – which would translate into technical problems for Uganda.

Some of us look at Kisanganyi 1 and 2 and make conclusions. True Rwanda outpowered Uganda in Kisanganyi but remember, Kisangayi 1 WAS a surprise attack on a small elite group of uganda’s ‘combatants’ who had been strategically placed to do business!!! When we ( Rwandans) captured Kisanganyi, there was a gentleman’s understanding between M7 and Kagame that we live Kisanganyi in the hands of Uganda as we advance because it was technically difficult for M7 to bring in batallions. The understanding had been that the group in Kisanganyi collects all the bills of the war and deduct it from all the ‘transactions’. The difference was supposed to be shared – after settling the costs of the war!!! It is here that Kazini made his first mistake!!! We purchased military hardware from the same dealler, at the same time, but Kazini’s bill was 100% more that ours for the same items. It is here that the deal aborted!!! PC ordered a surprise attack to flash Ugandan troops out of Kisanganyi so that ‘we do business by ourselves minus Uganda. That is why almost all the dead bodies of the fallen troops of Uganda were of graduates!!!! We had Oscar, 375 and the Mobile including the special duty trops. All these Rwandan troops were fighting a very small Ugandan selected graduate troops who had been deployed to do business and not to fight.

So, I do not want you to depend on Kisanganyi to say ‘Rwanda can outpower Uganda.

Actually, the last time it was almost obvious that the two countries were going to fight, we had pulled out up to Gabilo. But we had deployed a number of combatants into Uganda – Kabale, Mbarara and Masaka. These guys had been instructed to committ crimes in these areas and blame it on the ‘indisciplined’ M7 forces!!! In the meantime. That is why we were pleading with Clare Short and Tanzania but secretely. Apparently we were ready ‘for the war’ but there was deep fear that we would be outpowered. That time I was still in Rwanda. I travelled to different parts of the country to ‘drum up’ support but we knew it was going to be bad news for us!!!

    Guys, not much time left…

But those of u who remember what he used to say should be put on his tomb!!!!!!!Please, let us make sure that symbol is drwan on his tomb!!!!!!!!!! He said it over and again!!!!
