POPULARISING THE UGANDA NATIONAL ANTHEM THROUGH THE MEDIA

Chapter Two, Article 8 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda lists the National Anthem as one of the National Symbols. It is an obligation for all Ugandan citizens to learn and know, how to sing, and appreciate the message in our National Anthem.

Our National Anthem carries very rich and patriotic messages that guide Ugandans towards performance of our duties, as citizens. As we celebrate 50 years of our independence, and look to the future, Government is enjoining the media to popularise the National Anthem as a noble social responsibility contribution by the media, towards National awareness.

This is, therefore, to request that airing all the three (3) Stanzas of our National Anthem be given prominence in your media house. This should be played at the beginning of every news bulletin.

For God and my Country.

  1. Good,at least People will learn the National Anthem

  2. wasukulu,

Why wake up at this time? all sections in the constitution should be made operation instead of waiting for big events

  3. Jonny Rubin,

It is very important for all Ugandans to know the words and the tune of the National Anthem and equally important to understand the meaning of the words. However, overplaying the National Anthem will only make it too common and may eventually lose its significance. I wish and hope though, that despite the hard times of today, we shall all live in peace and friendship; For God and our Country. May God Bless Uganda.

  4. Mukasa,

Stupid minister, is this a swahili land to write the song in kiswahili? In buganda play it in luganda, acholi ,lango bukedea like that. U are taking us backwards. Museveni is now inteligent at 70 years to play a national anthem. Too bad

  5. Jonny Rubin.,

Eh, Mr. Mukasa, Are you sure that the National Anthem has been translated and therefore, should be sang in Kiswahili? If this is the case, then I think it is not the right time to switch from English before Uganda attains and establishes a truly National Language, or a language spoken and understood by all Ugandans.

  6. nsiiti,

at least we have the national anthem in Luganda. Poor Karooro has to get it in Acholi, lukiga, english and finally in Luganda. Get started Okurut Karooro
