UNDER IDI AMIN: every police post, medical facility, school or any other public entity had a telephone line that worked, and it is this what exactly led to the expansion of network and drove integration of UEB into this system!
When I started in school with computers I was very much so surprised how Idi Amin would have known and conceived about the need for fibre optics and how he could have embraced such an idea – that man was phenomenal and remember by 1977 there was a grand scheme to introduce rapid transport system linking Masaka, Jinja, Mbarara etc with the Yugoslavia buses he had imporated amass.
By the way, can you see the difference in village life today and during the seventies. It is really depressing people are filthy dirty and almost malnourished without a reasonable income. And Uganda commerical bank worked perfectly without huge debts as the 20 or so commercial bank have today.
Well I am not an Aminist , but what he did worked, for every dispensary had an ambulance and patients had white clothing, and medical workers uniforms and hospital and school served food to clients, patients were bathed, despite the fact that all textile factories worked under capacity – it is only amazing that a bufoon could be such stupid! Clear Ideology!
