How Nigeria’s PHCN acquired its new name!

Nigeria Electricity and Power Agency(NEPA) had such a bad reputation that people nicknamed it ‘Never Expect Power Always’ (NEPA). So they urged parliament to change the name so that it is able to rebrand.

It became ‘Power Handling Company of Nigeria’ (PHCN). On the very day it was being relaunched and rebranded (and I happened to be in Abuja), crafty Nigerians immediately called ‘Problem Has Changed Name’ (PHCN). The bosses were so furious they threatened to sue radio and TV stations making jokes of them. No one bothered!
